Where the rates come from
Live rates are European Central Bank reference rates, published on working days, retrieved through the free frankfurter.dev service. The badge above the converter shows whether live rates loaded and the date they are for. If the service cannot be reached, the converter switches to clearly labelled fixed rates that are not current.
Worked examples with the rates for 29 October 2026: 100 US dollars is 89.85 euros and 9,527 Indian rupees, and 100 euros is 83.58 British pounds (a cross rate worked out through the dollar). With a 0% fee and margin, 500 US dollars converts to 449.24 euros and 375.47 pounds.
Things to keep in mind
Reference rates are not the rates a bank, card or money transfer provider will give you. They add their own margin and fees, which you can estimate with the fee and margin fields. To load rates, your browser makes a request to frankfurter.dev, which can see your IP address like any website you visit. The amounts you enter are not sent. These results are estimates for general information only and are not financial, tax, investment or legal advice. Real products have fees, rules and rates that differ, so check the details with your lender, provider or a qualified adviser.
